Limited Edition of Georgian & Swiss Cultural Watch made by Sandro Laiso & Ermile Magradze

Sandro Laiso and Ermile Magradze have created a one-off art watch, using once forgotten and now rediscovered techniques. Ermile Magradze, one of the most famous art historians in Georgia, dedicated the last 20 years to discover and learn the lost technique of cell enamel. This Byzantine art technique vanished 600 years ago and due to Ermile’s exquisite craftsmanship it was brought back to life. For this achievement the Georgian academia has recently awarded him a PhD in geology.

«600 year old Technique»

This ancient enamel-technique was developed to mimic jewels and gems. Rock crystals from the Georgian hills and mountains are carefully selected, powdered, and then molten down to mineral pigments. By bending a wire, cells are shaped in artistic forms and soldered to a silver plate. Each cell is filled with mineral powder in a colour of choice. The entire piece is put into a stone oven at a temperature of ca. 1200 °C. The powdered minerals melt and fill out the cells. After carefully cooling and polishing the dial, it shows it's final colour with great depth and sparkling light reflexes.

«Swiss mechanical movement»

The superb mechanical movement is manufactured by the Swiss company ETA SA. It represents sophisticated mechanical craftsmanship developed over more than 220 years of experience. The calibre ETA 2892 is an automatic movement with a precision of ±20 seconds per day. The prefect partner to this beautiful face.

Only 100 units of this watch will be produced, with 50 pieces made in ladies-size and 50 pieces in gents-size. This limited edition is unique and combines the best of two worlds:
